That is so annoying..... where I live you have to book taxis at least 2 weeks in advance, but they are always on time

How maddening. We are lucky with the two taxis we use. I think you should push your complaint.

Not good enough

Want a good laugh, all in all booked 8 taxis for our large gorgeous collie (very sadly no longer with us) on different occasions stating every time he is large can we have a larger taxi and willing to pay extra. None of them turned up and so kept having rows with them. The best part is (same firm) ever since we have used them since the drivers say, what no dog today. Well I was lost for words. Couldn't make it up could you 🤣🤣

We too have trouble getting a taxi. One firm is pretty reliable, if you can be sure that the booking lady, whose English is basic, has taken the order, -but they are not always punctual and turn up in a tearing hurry. Then they rush you to your destination at lightning speed bumping over the potholes.🤢🤢

Put up a review on their website........ unless they're the only taxi outfit in town!

I am very lucky in that the taxi company we have has very good drivers and are nearly always on time unless they hit rush hour. The person taking the booking always asks "are you going for an appointment and what time is your appointment" they then advise you what time the taxis should be booked for to avoid delays. On a normal day after phoning for a taxis its here within 5 minutes x

I had a weird (and unhelpful) experience with the FreeNow app, which books black cabs.

I had booked as far in advance as possible (4 days) for a taxi to take my wife to Heathrow last Tuesday. We were allocated a driver and all seemed well until the day, when there was no word until 5 minutes before the cab was due; it was a different driver and would be with us in 10 minutes. No sweat, plenty of time, except that he appeared to be driving in the opposite direction! Sure enough, 5 minutes later (when he was actually due) his ETA had gone up to 12 minutes; then, quite abruptly, he cancelled, the app told me that I would be automatically allocated another driver, and then the booking disappeared completely!

Luckily, I was feeling reasonably well that day, so I drove her to the airport myself, but we would have been in real difficulties if we both had to catch a flight. Even more puzzling was a pending payment to FreeNow on my credit card the day of booking, followed by a pending credit of the same amount the following day! Both transactions have since disappeared, and no money has changed hands, but the whole business was unsettling and I shan’t be using the app again.

Here in London, I rely on Uber taxis. You can see on your mobile app, where they are om route to you.

Where I live they prefer you to book on the day, but in the past I used to book in advance when going on holiday ect. Taxis terms do say they cannot guarantee to get you there on time.
