Day 18 of chest infection. Antibiotics finished 2 days ago, day 9 of steroids. Chest still tight and breathing not perfect. Plus side Ive had my voice back for 2 days 😊 Peak flow 250 am and pm. Using brown and blue inhaler. When is this going to clear up?

Hi Mas

I would go back to the GP on Monday if you still feel poorly. It looks like your peakflow is improving. However if you feel short of breath do not hesitate to phone 111 etc for advice.

Keep warm, drink plenty of fluids and rest sitting up..x

Spoke over the phone with the doctor yesterday. He says Ive to go back to the surgery if Im not getting better but I am, slowly. He has given me a line to stay off work until 28th Im due back to see him 27th. This is definitely the worse winter attack Ive had and its quite frightening

There you are. You have a good doctor it seems.

It is a long cold and damp winter..many resistant viruses around as a result.

You are improving and with rest you will get over it.

Maybe time to get a medication review..get stronger inhalers..because a stronger preventer is just that..it will keep those colds and coughs away. Words of a consultant not mine of course.

I expect your blue is salamol or ventolin and your brown is clenil..there are many out there which will help you have things under control.

Take care Mas.

Well you have different levels of care, see the British Thoracic Society guidelines: brit-thoracic.org.uk/standa...

Check your lung disease guidelines..

I was off work for 4 weeks last year. These infections are very nasty this winter. I think due to the mild weather Sept to Jan. I have never felt so ill. Even now (I have been back at work since 8th Dec) I still don't feel quite my normal self. Rest up and hope you recover soon.

Sorry to hear you've been ill as well Jackieshep.

I was ill as well Nov/Dec and its almost 3 weeks with this infection.

My doctor is convinced all the animals at my place of work are contributing to my condition, which is not good. I might have to make some life changing decisions soon.

Take care x

Could be if you have allergies. I don't visit my sister too often as she has 2 golden retrievers and their hair sets my asthma off. Once a year is all I can manage as its a 5 hour drive.

My client has 3 guineapigs, 2 rabbits, 3 dogs, 1 cat and a hamster all in the house.
