Clots not clearing up

I got the news in May that I had PE in both Lungs, I had another ct scan in November. The results were not encouraging as they were expecting them to clear up after 3 months. Left clot was smaller than before not by much. The right lung. Not at all. I am having another CT scan in May. My Rivaoxaban has been reduced to 10mg a day. Was feeling ok until last Sunday when I started to get pains in my chest and slightly out off breath. Now my wife is Covid positive(she is is a nurse nursing Covid patients). Me I was tested negative. So what I would like to know is what I can I do to get rid of the clots, or what can make it worse. I am working in a car plant sometimes driving cars all day or doing physical work fitting parts. I do exercise walking, cycling or strength training. What can the nhs do to help improve the situation. I was told I will be on blood thinners for life.

If so does that mean I should talk to my pension providers in regard for shorter life expectancy.

Lots of questions. My says readings were 97 a week ago now 92. What would you recommend for lung function machines. Thanks

Hello Flipingpancakes,If the clots are still there after so long then you should be referred to a specialist pulmonary vascular disease centre, there are six in the UK. You should also be checked for pulmonary hypertension, initially by an echocardiogram. Have you had one of those?

Please keep in touch.

Yes I have had a echocardiogram which was clear. I have a good heart.😀But didn’t know about these centres. Good information.

P.S. Was there a cause for the PEs? Or did they just happen? What does your doctor say about the sats?

No cause was found. I have not spoken about the days to my Dr. So hard to get through to the local surgery! The clots may have just happened. But I did have pains in my chest on a couple of occasions over two years. So much so it took my breath away and was doubled up in pain for a minute. But you don’t want to trouble anyone. The time it happened in May I was on the phone to the Dr surgery and had to go straight to A and E.

Even if on blood thinners for life it does NOT mean you have a shorter life expectancy. I understand you are worried about situation and I would be to. But just want to reassure you in that point. Hope you get some answers soon. If you have chronic medical insurance or critical insurance it might be worth speaking to them because you could get early payout? But you must read insurance documents carefully.

No but looking at getting a pension transfer or may help would get a larger pay out. Thank you. Bevvy.

Please speak to your medical team before taking any natural medications. They may interfere with what currently on. Some years ago I was reminded about this by my gp! Who said he would always want to know what being taken!!

If it was me and I was getting new pains in my chest and my oxygen levels were dropping I would at least call 111 for advice. Hope you get some answers soon.

Well some natural medicines will not interact with some blood thinning drugs. I will though ask a pharmacist connected to the surgery
