Nitrofurantoin and dizziness

Trigonitissufferer profile image

I have been put on nitrofurantoin 100mg once a day long term as I have trigonitis. I have been suffering with really bad dizziness, vertigo and headaches which has scared me massively. I read online that long term use of this medication Can cause pulmonary fibrosis and that dizziness is common.

Has anyone else suffered with bad dizziness and vertigo while on the medication?

I can't tolerate Nitro so I was on Trimethoprim long term, no side effects at all.

I’ve been on and off it for years, normally just for a 3 day course for a urine infection but since my diagnosis I have been given it long term and it’s really affected me. Trimethoprim makes me hallucinate so they won’t give it to me anymore
