I think if they knew a simple direct cause of something like stress they would have found easier ways to deal with the resulting AF. For me, when I look back on things, my entire life was extreme stress (suffered abuse for a prolonged time). However, my AF only appeared when life became so much better and I had no stress. For me, right now, apart from my AF life couldn't be better, I've no stress, no worries.....but lots of AF. I keep thinking there must be a link somewhere, but probably not.

I think different things cause AF. I have always lived with a heart murmur and a hole I the heart bit in 2011 I neay died from appendicitis. It was after this about a year later that I started with AF. I don't know for sure but it seems to me like e yra stress on the heart that causes it fir whatever reason. We are all different

The info on the BHF site, as suggested is helpful , and the NHS site also has information

But it helps if you get the name right when you search for it - it is Atrial Fibrillation - arterial means something affecting arteries which are the blood vessels (tubes) which carry blood leaving the heart to the rest of the body (veins are the tubes which carry returning blood) - ATRIAL means affecting one or both of your atria, these are two of the 4 chambers (sections) of your heart

Well when I had my echocardiogram they did say I haven't got AF now and there were no abnormally s in my heart but it's got to be send to the cardiologist what does that mean no abnormallys as I. Am really scared

It’s horrible to be frightened by it but your dr will be able to advise. I have A Fib post surgery and have beta blocker to help. Am able to get on with everything. But appreciate how worrying it is too you hear yourself.

I think whoever discovers the cause of AF is in line to make a small fortune. Seriously though, it is possible that stress can make it worse. There seem to be many theories as to what can start an episode, for me it is sleeping on my side, by not the cause. I had frequent episodes when I was first diagnosed, but as I got to understand what would happen, and began to relax about them they became much less.

It is caused by abnormal electrics in the heart, stress can irritate it. Allblation surgery fixed me

I'm in the clear but because of my age I have a bit of leakage in one of the values apparently it happens as we get older

I've just read that if I've got a leaky heart value I shouldn't be taking blood thinners

I got four of them and I am on blood thinners, also heart failure that has gone into remission.
