On Sunday I ended up in A&E with an erratic and fast running pulse ( about 80-90, my normal pulse is 45-55, I take Atenolol for heart attack 17 years ago ). The rhythm seemed to get back to normal within 12 hours but it is now Wednesday and my Pulse is about 60 - 75. Will it come down back to what it was ? The hospital told me I have AF, that’s the first I know of it.

Sorry to hear that Sherbett but AF can be managed.Have you talked to a doctor about it yet?I was wondering whether it would benefit you to post on the AF Association page where you would find lots of fellow sufferers and a lot of very useful lifestyle tips.
Thanks for reply. Have asked for appointment this morning but to see a doctor at surgery is very difficult. Where do I find the AF Association.
Wish you luck with the GP.😁As for the AF association put AF into the search at the top of this page and select communities.Hope you find the support you need.
Dear Sherbett
How very worrying for you that incident must have been.
Like you I was told that I had AF but mine was brought on by having the bypass and as many will tell you on here, that is a very common way to get it.
My main reason for posting is not just to wish you well but back up other answers to say that AF can be managed by drugs.
Sometimes those drugs are for life.
Your heart team will soon discuss the best plan for you from now on.
Take care
Thank you
