I have been referred to cardiology for left arterial abnormalaity but I have been given zero info or advice. The only info I have is that if I’m not contacted by cardiology by 14/12/23 then I can ring them! I feel like I might go down a google rabbit hole to work out what it means. Can anyone offer any advice

Dear Luna

If there is anything urgent then cardiology will act quickly.

I had annual checks and waited for weeks to hear any response. Then one year came routine tests but the cardiologist rang me at home the next day. Things then moved fast. I got a replacement aortic valve and the medical care was fabulous.

Never ask Dr Google. If you need to ask, then use the BHF. What is written here is monitored. The bulk of the internet is not monitored and the odd rogue reply will alarm unnecessarily.

I can’t understand medical terminology whereas the doctors do understand. So I leave it to them and I concentrate on doing anything they suggest.

Best wishes

Sooty

I gather you have not yet had an initial consultation. The 14th Dec. is close to Christmas....I say not more other than i would be calling them every couple of weeks to checkwhere you are in the queue,,,and... put yourself on a the cancellation list of that dept so that you can take any cancellation slot that arises. I always do this for self and husband and it works quite often...about half of the time. It is a matter of pushing all the boundaries to get the best possible for yourself.

I'd ask the gp what they know and why they referred to cardiology (ask for the letter if you can) then if that's difficult to make sense of, give the bhf helpline a call and ask them for their view. They can interpret the technical stuff for you.
