cold symptoms

Hi Furbaby9
my dad recently (February) switched to candersartan from ramipril. At first he did wake up feeling bunged up and a bit chesty. It didn’t really bother him too much. He put it down to hayfever. He started drinking (home made) ginger, lemon and honey tea every morning and it appears to have subsided. He initially drank it as a natural alternative to Lemsip but has continued. We haven’t discussed this with his HF nurse yet due to only just being prescribed candersartan
If your concerned perhaps speak to your local pharmacist or the social prescriber at the gp surgery (if the service is available) to see whether this is a common side effects etc.
Wishing you all the best take care.
I am sorry I won't be much help in your dad's problem but what I would say is that since I was switched to Candersartan and since that I sneeze a lot have a cough and a runny nose which is not snotty more like water! I am waiting for the results of blood tests as the Cardiologist thinks it might be the tablet, the heart or the lungs. Not much help there but when I get the results I will know more and pass it on.
Cold symptoms are listed in some sources as a common side effect of taking candesartan. If you feel that candesartan is causing you to have cold symptoms and this is affecting your quality of life you should discuss with your prescribing health professional e.g GP perhaps to trial an alternative.
