Morning all, I am laid low with a sick bug. Never had this since I was on medication so not sure what to do about taking tablets? Even if I can keep them down should I still take on an empty stomach, especially aspirin? Hoping for some group wisdom. Thanks!

Tablets during sick bug

You haven't told us the full range of medication you take. It might be essential that some are taken every day for your well being. But not taking aspirin for the odd day or two does seem acceptable since it is sometimes required if you are going to have surgery. My suggestion is to contact a pharmacist and seek their advice. There will be a select few open today, or try your luck with 111.
I agree with lowerfield.
If you're on warfarin, for instance, then you need to take it, and if you don't keep it down then you need to contact your warfarin clinic.
hi heartmum56
I had Norovirus last month and was told by my hf nurse to stop dapagliflozin until I had stopped being sick because it can make you dehydrated but to carry on with other medications for high blood pressure ramipril and Lercanidipine
alway read the insert.
if very ill, there are rules for loop diuretics too but would recommend guidance of the gp on this one. It’s to do with avoiding dehydration but drinking more than usual is also good so that can be a problem with diuretic regimens. But gp advice best as adjusting your loop diuretic is challenging particularly when ill. Also don’t take electrolytes without gp advice. Same reason. Hopefully you aren’t on diuretics as that will make it easier. Hope you feel better soon. Big hugs xx
agree with others who suggest GP or pharmacist or 111 as the “sick days” rules apply to a range of medication many of us hearties take.
I only discovered the importance of sick day rules after attending cardic rehab course and was surprised at the number of tablets it applies too.
I am surprised it is not given as advice when these tablets are prescribed given how serious it can be to take tablets when have D&V or with a high temp.
Hope you feel better soon.
I always think that winter is bad time for "hearties". My worst moments were in winter and your most likely to catch infections in this season.
