It's variable and entirely down to which NHS Trust you are with and the waiting list for the cardiology unit within it. If you want a definitive answer speak to the appointments unit who arrange cardiology appointments at the hospital where you have been treated and they will be able to give you an estimate, and if you are fortunate they might even be able to give you an appointment over the phone. And if you want to try to bring your appointment forward, and if you are able to attend at short notice, offer yourself to be put on the cancellations list.

I was referred back to my GP after cardiac rehab I was not offered NHS cardiologist follow up. I was given a phone number for the nurse practitioner to call for questions or problems. Stents in 2019. I paid for a private cardiology check up, stress test and echo in 2021 and get called back to my GP annually in my birthday month for labwork.

hi,

I had NSTEMI and 2 stents fitted in October 24 and have got an appointment with consultant in August this year.

Try speaking with cardio nurse who dealt with you after discharge from hospital, or hospital you went to in the first place.

Hope you get sorted.

hello

I am in Glasgow. I have been through a heart attack, angio and stent twice. About five years between each HA. One in 2019 and next 2023. I have never had a post op appointment. Cardiac rehab and I get my bloods checked from gp every 6 months.

Hi layalone,

I had a nstemi and stent in September 2024. I had an Echocardiagram about six weeks later (I was able to get a cancellation) and started post rehab a few weeks later. I saw a Cardiologist in January 2025 who ordered a Cardiac MRI, a Holyte (sp?) monitor and another Echocardiagram, all of which I have had. I see the Cardiologist again next week. Either I have been really lucky or rather worryingly they are looking for something sinister! I think the hospital has been very good, although my husband has been on a waiting list to see a ENT doctor for 14 months!

Not what you're looking for?
