hi everyone I had heart attack in 2016 then in 2020 did an echocardiogram saying I had a ef of 31 which really scared me when said heart failure most meds made my Bp low because I usually have low bp then continue to take bisporil and Ramipril over six years but now Dr advise me stop the ramipril I have heard many people have improved their ef but mine is the same I’m worried when I’ve stopped the med if I have side affects and also why my ef has stayed the same

Heart failure

Hello Redapples123. Like you my EF fell to 34...I think Covid, being locked up in small flat did not help. It is worrying. I also had Heart Attack, subsequently called Heart Failure... Don't panic, should just say not optimal working or something more bland) and was put on Ramipiril despite fact I had COPD so already had cough. I also had low Blood Pressure. Discussed with my Cardiologist who changed Ramipiril to Irbersartan. (Which I learnt today is better for Kidneys too.. Just diagnosed with CKD3b). My EF has risen due to increase of excersise...gentle and walking only. Can you increase excersise at all? Best thing is don't stress out. Its not as bad as it seems. Please go back to your Dr if drugs don't suit you. You know your body best, You are the person suffering so Just say, 'Sorry Dr, these drugs don't seem to be helping me. With my History and your expertise, is there any other drug I can have that won't conflict with medication I am on please? ' (smile helps I find). If reluctant, just reiterate what they say but assert its Your Body and Your Life...Best of luck, you will be fine. Keep the faith all will be well x
