Recovery from Heart Failure

Last October I was diagnosed with stage 4 heart failure after being admitted to resus with pulmonary oedema and AF.

My EF at my first echo was 25% and a few months ago a second echo showed that my EF was normal.

The team of cardio Nurse Specialists worked hard to titrate my medication and I am grateful for this.

I would like to connect with people with similar experiences , and indeed read comments and questions from any readers.

Thanks. 👍

Yes, I was going through end of life planning with the team, which is a strange process. All that has stopped now. 😀

Hi,

My meds are:

Digoxin

Furosemide

Entresto

Dapagliflozin (It was the heart team that arranged this as it is somehow related to my type 2 diabetes.

Edoxoban

I have co-morbities that a have medications that may or may not interact or effect the drugs I take.

Thanks

Hello. Brilliant news. I was in a similar boat as you back in 2019. Mid 30s I had a HA and was told I had a ef 12% and severe heart failure. AF. Etc. I was done for. Once starting entresto things seem to pick up.

It is a debilitating condition and each week can be a roller coaster with scary symptoms at times. Just have to try and stay positive. Good luck

I was admitted into hospital in April with Pulmonary Oedema and was rushed straight into resus where I had a cardiac arrest! Was in hospital for a month after Cardiogenic shock and in the ICU for two weeks. My EF was 23 when I came out of hospital. I’ve had a CRT-D fitted and on medication which has helped. I actually feel the best I’ve felt in a long time. Haven’t had another echo yet ( hopefully Jan/Feb time). Since coming out of hospital I’ve got back to the gym 3 times a week , completed cardio rehab, driven down to Spain for a holiday and walk 4 miles a day! I’m back to work full time now and am being discharged by the heart failure nurse on my next visit. The worst side is the worry and anxiety. Hopefully that will pass with time. I have no symptoms of Heart Failure so fingers crossed my EF has greatly improved since last May!
