Hi Parveen,

I did not get on well with Bisoprolol. I felt a heavy pressure in my chest accompanied by my heart thumping. I am now on a different beta-blocker called Nebivolol and that suits me much better.

Do have the conversation with the cardiologist tomorrow. I’m sure there is an alternative available.

All the best.

Tos

Hi Parveen, I've been on 5mg for about 4/5 weeks, up from 2.5mg. The problems I've had are being cold all the time (fingers go white) and finding walking uphill challenging. I do 4 fitness classes a week and have never found hills an issue until now! But no heaviness in the chest. I'm on it for palpitations, which have improved, but I'm going to ask if I can reduce the dose a bit. They may say no, but I'll be guided by the medics. Good luck, Penny

I was prescribed beta blockers to treat my chestpain many years ago and ended up in hospital with unstable angina.

I was later diagnosed with vasospastic angina, which is caused by transient constrictions of my coronary arteries.

Beta blockers are advised to be used with caution in anybody with vasospastic angina.

I personally cannot take any type of beta blockers.

I am prescribed Ivabradine to manage my heartrate.
