Visible pulse in right neck (near collar bone)

In mid-January I noticed a visible pulse in the right of my neck (when on a Teams call) and since then people have commented on it. It is a very strong pulse and clearly visible even at rest.At end of January, I was diagnosed as being anaemic and having very high blood.pressure (readings in hospital were all over 210/110). The blood pressure was a surprise as the GP has never tested me. Needed a blood transfusion for the anaemia. A and E doctor commented on pulsatile mass in right of neck in letter to GP.

Medication for the blood pressure is having little effect and the pulse in my neck is still very visible. GP seems unconcerned and just keeps trying new blood pressure medications.

My worry is that the pulse is just on the right of my neck. Surely if blood pressure, the pulse would be visible on both sides?

I don’t know, but what I do know is that you might find some help from the specialist charity Blood Pressure UK website.

Hi, I noticed something similar occurring last year, a few months post O.H.S. My cardiologist referred me for a further Carotid artery scan and an abdominal one too - to rule out aorta issues.

Following the scans, she concluded that they are ‘Cannon Waves’ in my neck - linked to the ectopics I have - so she wasn’t overly concerned, albeit they do look quite alarming.

You could potentially self refer to see a Cardiologist privately, if you’re still worried and financially able / have health insurance. I know from personal experience that severe anaemia can cause palpitations, so hopefully you’re feeling a bit better since the transfusion.

I hope you get some answers. Take care.
