heart palpitations

I have had loads of investigations over the last few years for heart related palpitations and have a implanted loop recorder.

All the tests showed I had a large hiatus hernia but no one suggested it was connected with my palpitations.

This week I saw a consultant about my hernia and he said that as my hernia was big it was pressing on my heart so thus giving me palpitations!

Iam going to have a hiatus hernia repair so hopefully my palpitations will disappear.

That’s interesting. I also have heart palpitations and a hiatus hernia, but didn’t think that the two might be connected. I’ll talk to my doc.

My cardiologist dismissed it and it was only because I was seen by an upper gastrointestinal surgeon that he connected the two and said my stomach was pushing on my heart. My gp dismissed it also !

That figures. GP’s who only have 10 minutes and surgeons who specialise is a recipe for this sort of thing.

Did you find that eating affected the pain or fatigue?

Yes very bad indigestion and palpitations waking me up at night. I had a barium swallow test and a endoscopy before I got to see consultant.
