the number of people with coughs and colds that stubbornly not going away are legion . But do find my answer atrial arrhythmias do get more problematic when I am ill . To decide if it just a viral chest infection or your heart complaining . My leg get more swollen and when I get to the point I can’t lay down because of coughing constantly and feeling like I am drowning, the cardiologist calls it desaturating .

So keep a daily check on my weight, it can suddenly put on a few kilograms of weight ,and I can’t lay down also feel my tummy is bloated . Then it’s an urgent talk with your GP as you may need diuretics and an appointment with your cardiologist if the go thinks it appropriate .

Thanks for that,at the moment there is no swelling on my legs, but it is one thing I do check on regular.

Hello there, have you been to see your GP? With you being medically vulnerable I suggest you do.

Back in November I had a bad cough that wouldn't go away, and after 10 days i went to our walk in centre to be checked as the doctors was closed for appointments for training.

At the walk in centre they checked me and thought I had a 'slight' problem however due to my heart problems they referred me to the Ambulatory Emergency Care, I am so glad they did as they diagnosed me with pneumonia following blood tests and a chest x ray. 6 days of 2 different antibiotics sorted it out, (mind you it was about another 3 weeks before I was back to feeling my usual self again.

I currently have whatever is doing the rounds at the moment. Persistent cough, temperature, fatigue, body aches, and zero sleep. Diagnosed with a chest infection and on antibiotics. I have had an increase in my tachycardia as a result of this and my Apple Watch has gone off many times in the last couple of days warning me of the higher heart rate. I do take a beta blocker however, though it doesn’t really seem to be helping at the moment.

I would advise going to see your GP if your symptoms are still persisting just to rule out any possible respiratory problems.

I’m drinking a lot of honey and lemon tea, a warm water and salt gargle and eating lots of hot soup at the moment.

Feel better soon.
