Hi I take dapagaflozin, bisoprolol, ramipril and apixaban for heart failure.Should I be getting blood tests ? Looking at my NHS records last bloods taken was may 2014 and not sure what the reason was for this.

Almost 11 years ago? As a complete non-expert I would have thought that tests now would be worthwhile, at the very least "interesting". Looking at my own record, I've had several routine tests for cholesterol and diabetes, those for the former dating back 20 years. Perhaps you are too young for these? Last week I was again due for those routine tests and because of my poor energy levels my GP readily added others to them , even those they weren't scheduled for another five months.

But looking back at my own records regarding my dodgy heart valve I can see no notes of any blood tests and I don't think they featured as part of my diagnosis and after-treatment.

This is a question you should be asking of the unit that is responsible for your care. If you are still under the cardio department ask them, perhaps through the medical secretary, or if you were discharged to the GP ask them. We are are all different, as is our medical history, added to which different medical units operate under different protocols.

I have had the same ongoing debate with my GP surgery. My Cardiologist said my bloods should be checked every 6 months. GP finally agreed after much badgering to tests once a year. I would speak to your surgery and involve your Cardiologist if need be. From experience in the 18 months since my HF diagnosis is that my GP is frankly totally disinterested and it's down to me to badger them

Good luck
