My BP is okay but not great, high in the morning and then steadies as the day progresses. 142/87 this morning 124/79 yesterday evening. I'm on 3 meds, been asked to call in the GP on Friday to review meds as my average is high. I suspect they may want to add another. Is 4 unusual?

How many Blood Pressure Meds
What meds ? They might increase cone or two of your meds rather than add one 🤷.. that’s the usual procedure . Normally adjust the dose if Ace/Beta blocker
I take irbesartan alone for BP, in amongst my other meds. Have done for over 20 years. My BP varies from the time of day, how long I have been seated before I take a reading, and even across the three readings I usually take at a session. Anyway your BP looks similar to mine although mine can go lower and I don't worry about it, especially since the many health professionals who have taken readings over the years seem happy with it.
My BP was pretty similar before my surgery. My cardiologist sent me to my GP for a 24hour monitor; my GP said the results were a bit high, but not high enough to medicate.
(A few years later I had double-valve surgery and was put on bisoprolol to slow my heart. Bisoprolol also reduces blood pressure, so I assume mine is a bit lower now.)
If they do decide they need to lower your BP, it might just be an increase in one of your other meds. But even if they add one, I think you'll find that at 4 you're still well under average for the folks around here. 5 or 6 seems to be quite common, and whenever it turns into a contest the winner is in double digits.
I was on 5 hypertensives till early this year when a Falls consultant removed the bisoprolol after atilt table test diagnosed postural hypotension with BP plummeting to 61/40, and HR rose to 130+ to compensate. She wanted me to remove indapamide too, but then released me back to my GP, who became worried about high BP again. I took myself off it again two weeks ago as had to lie down on carpeted shop floor as I’d have fainted otherwise. So other 3 BP drugs: doxazosin, amlodipine and losartan. :
Elevated blood pressure is best treated with a combination of medications, because different classes of medication act on different parts of the complex physiology responsible for regulating blood pressure. Exactly which medications are chosen, and at what doses, depends on how the individual responds to the medication(s); what other complications (e.g. heart failure) or illness (e.g. diabetes, kidney disease) they have; and any side effects of the meds. Therefore it is not unusual to be on multiple medications for hypertension.
I’m not saying you are doing this, but….
Try not to rely just on medication for high BP.
1. Lose weight if you are overweight
2. Exercise at least 150 mins per week with (example) fast paced walking. It can be (example) 5 x 30 mins
3. Ditch the salt. Don’t add any when cooking and remove it from the dining table. Replace with spices and mustards to add flavour
4. Drink a minimum of 2 litres per day
5. Take your medication at the same time every day. Set alarms to ensure you don’t miss any.
Best wishes

I take 4 medications for blood pressure: Valsartan, Metoprolol, Amlodipine and Furosemide. I take double doses of Valsartan and Metoprolol (one in the morning and one before going to bed), Amlodipine (before going to bed) and Furosemide in the morning. This combo seems to work for me. In fact, my BP got under control when I started taking the "before bed" doses.
