Hello everyone, I am hoping someone can help me.

A few months ago, I went to doctor, following chest pains and ongoing cough.

I was diagnosed with a systolic heart murmur radiating to cartoids.

Since then, I have been told

1) its a aortic stenosis murmur by one doctor at Hospital

2) can't say for sure until I have an echocardiagram (14 week wait) by GP ,he said it could be sclerosis.

3) 4 ecgs, which i was told 1 was normal, 2 were borderline and last one has ST depression in several leads

4) chest x ray, which at first was told was normal, then was told was not, that bi lateral opacficiation ,had INCREASED, from a chest x ray i had June 2023 ( in 2023 I was told x ray was normal) and current opacficiation was due to a infection and I was put on doxycycline, which did not improve cough, then told it was atelectasis by another GP who kindly spoke on phone to a radiologist whilst I was In my appointment.

5) However, at chest pain clinic at hospital, Dr there said he struggled to hear the murmer ( he said he could just about hear it) suggested chest xray opacficiation could be blood vessels or asthma?!? And said the ST depression was subtle and non specific and did not know what was causing it!

Meanwhile, my GP suggested i did a peak flow test and that was awful at 200 ish . I am 53 and 5ft 3!

I am worried and confused ๐Ÿ˜•

I have decided to go private for a echocardiagram at end of January and have been prescribed an inhaler and now told to keep a peak flow diary.

I am worried it could be pulmonary fibrosis, but GP says I don't have systems for that. I cough a few times a day. No weight loss. I am so confused, I am Googling all over the place, as everytime I see anyone, I get told something different.

Sorry for long message ๐Ÿ˜ž

I'm sorry to hear that you are getting mixed messages.

Unfortunately, despite all the wonderful technology and intricate tests it can still be difficult sometimes for doctors to reach a diagnosis quickly.

It seems that you have issues with your lungs and possibly with your heart - they work very closely together as a team, so a problem with one can have knock-on effects for the other.

It sounds like they are trying to piece the picture together for you - at least they are making progress with your lung issue - I hope the treatment helps

It might be time to stop googling and focus on the treatment you have for now, while the medics ponder over the rest.
