Hi there my 18 year old daughter was at work about 7 weeks ago when simultaneously she got a fast heart rate and vertigo and was off work until a few days ago and only able to go back as taking a pill for the vertigo and 3x40mg daily propanol, she's also taking sertraline due to the stress of it all, it has been 15 days on all 3 tablets. She is feeling more able to cope thanks to the tablets, but I'm concerned that her heart rate is still fast, like first thing on waking it's going fast until she's taken the propanol and as that gets to work it slows and ok during the day as she takes the other two tablets and then back to fast in the morning until she takes the tablets again. The GP has sent an advice request to ENT re the vertigo but nothing re the heart, which concerns me. Has anyone got any advice on what needs to be done next please as I think 7 weeks of continually fast heart and vertigo (only being helped now by tablets) is a really long time. In the first week we went to a and e who said after ECG and bloods that she's ok, she's had another set of bloods and ECG at Dr surgery and he said technically her heart is ok, but we need to know why it's doing this and will it ever stop? Thank you

Fast heart rate and vertigo
sounds like POTTS .
Maybe ask the GP to consider PoTS.
Here's some further information about postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (PoTS)
Yes I also wondered about POTS - postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, a type of autonomic nervous system dysfunction/ dysautonomia. But she should have further investigations as a whole. Very best wishes for a solution as this can be very disabling.
There is also a nasty virus going around causing vertigo, dizziness and odd symptoms that can take 3 months to clear up. A member of my family has it.
Thanks will definitely look into pots, and thank you so much for the info re the virus that's really interesting, it did make me wonder at the start if if it was a virus as the vertigo and racing heart both started really suddenly simultaneously, that's interesting to hear re your relative, thank you.
You are welcome, I do hope it clears up quickly for her - as quickly as it came on - it is very disabling isn't it. I also would recommend a good Vitamin D3, which is needed for us all now that we don't have enough sun on our skin, especially in winter, and is very important for the immune system and many things, worth looking up, important for the heart too:

And a good vitamin C too in case it is a virus. Zinc is important too, if not getting enough from foods, but good to supplement with in times of being unwell. Keep us posted.
