Hi i was in urgent care last wk for stomach issue & had blood tests, bp chest x ray etc but also ecg. All the dr told me was that it had changes but he didnt have anything to compare it with, i was given the ecg report along with other paper work to take to another dept.I looked at ecg which said abnormal with t wave inversion in v1 -v5. They discharged me & have been given an appt for endoscopy as outpatient. I have looked at my report from hospital letter that is online in my gp notes now it mentions ecg briefly, but on the part were it says follow up just mentions endoscopy, but in gp follow up its doesnt mention anything at all. So i have made appt with my gp to discuss as am quite worried.
Ecg abnormal: Hi i was in urgent care... - British Heart Fou...
Ecg abnormal
First of all please do not take what happened to me as an explanation as to what you are undergoing, but it might just be the same. Some years ago I had an erratic heart rate which showed an "abnormal" ecg. Unlike you, I have no idea of the kind of abnormality. At the same time I was having investigations for recurrent frequent bladder and bowel problems. When these were sorted out, due to an unusual bacterial infection, my heart rate returned to normal. The general consensus of medical opinion was that the infection was causing the erratic heart rate.
A recent investigation as to what might be causing my A.Fib was a blood test for white cell count. However this came back normal, so an infection as the cause was ruled out.
Hi Fybo I had a HA in Oct’22 and during the last few months I’ve been having intermittent chest pains and have had X-rays, bloods, echocardiogram and numerous ecg’s.Ive also had a stress Cardiac MRI two months ago.My ecg showed T Wave and ST Wave abnormalities and to be totally honest the doctors/consultant seemed at the time to be lacking in communication about my results. My MRI has not shown anything other than slight damage to my heart muscle which occurred during my HA.I have done a lot of homework on obtaining historical ecg results and as far back as 2008 discovered T Wave abnormalities and neither A&E or my doctor had the slightest knowledge of this.Ive said this before but whilst the surgical procedures during a HA are superb and the re-hab that follows is a caring few weeks led by the cardiac nurses after that the follow up procedures can be poor depending on your postcode. In conclusion my medication hasn’t changed since 2022 and overall things are stable.I wish you well xx
Update on tel appt with gp regarding ecg. Dr looked back to previous ecg & said had t wave inversion in 2008, so not to worry about it at all. Also had gastroscopy last wk & findings were slight corkscrew like in small area of oesophagus, no bleed or inflammation or peptic ulcer disease., & suggest stay on higher dose of omeprazole 20mg morn/ night as when reducing causes flare ups. I believe that with being back on higher dose for nearly 3wks after bleed that has settled everything.
Havent drank alcholol, spicy, acidic food, ie tomato, citrus etc for years. Fingers crossed.
Excellent news!
I've been on a H2 blocker now for 25 years (for hiatus hernia that interferes with stomach valve). Just meant that when they put me on heart meds this year they didn't have to add any stomach protection. 😆
Yes i also have hiatus hernia which i have known about for a few years. I have also been on different H2 blockers for abtas long as you. Had been trying to reduce dose down as long term side effects are not good( thinng bones, dementia etc) but now i realise that after having 2nd gastric bleed i must stay on the higher dose & hopefully will keep stable as quality of life is important at the moment.
