I have recently had a 24 hour ECG, my doctor told me my results were fine but offered to put me on beta blockers. I wasn't happy with this answer and asked for a copy of my ECG report.
I have looked at the report myself and have noticed that it says AF detected and wide complex tachycardia detected. I can also see a marker on a graph that looks to me that there was a short period of AF detected whilst I was running. Highlighted in attached report.
Questions:
1. Does anyone have any thoughts on why this was overlooked/not mentioned when I asked about my results? Should I be concerned about these detections?
2. I have been wearing my own chest strap monitor with ECG capability and am going to review my own ECG data to see if I can see anything similar in my own results. Does anyone have and advice on what to look for when looking for AF?

your gp has done something about your AF, he has put you on beta blockers.
That said, I’d press for being referred to a cardiologist for a proper consultation and a proper plan to address your tachycardia.
There are loads of different beta blockers, don’t get too frustrated if the first one doesn’t suits your needs, it is a trial and error with them, but for that reason if I were you I rather be under the care of a cardiac team (electrophysiology cardiac team).
Hi Letsallhope1, thank you for your response. I think what I am confused about is that fact the doctor has told me there is nothing wrong/not given me any diagnosis but then offered me beta blocks, if I want them. It felt like he was just offering me something to keep me quiet. I also am not sure why he has said nothing is wrong when the report shows AF detected and wide complex tachycardia detected. Is this not considered an issue? has he ignored it as AF only shows for a short time on the report?
I have continuous AF, for years. Your doctor as prescribed beta blockers because that’s the norm. Everyone is different with treatments so we can’t give you a diagnosis only a cardiologist can do that. These things take time, and obviously not life threatening, Maybe you need to go back to your doctor and ask nicely if they can explain it to you because you’ve noticed some things on the report that are worrying to you and you’re worried about the diagnosis and treatment.
Just to let you know, a lot of people have Atrial fibrillation on this site and we all have different levels and the treatments vary. Yours sounded like it was very short and not worth worrying about, but you are worrying. I don’t know about those home monitor things. Maybe ask your doctor that also.
