Is anyone on a MAOI weaning themselves from bisoprolol or another beta blocker having difficulties? Two years ago, my cardiologist put me on bisoprolol for an erratic BP (which ironically, is better off of it). I had exteme lightheadnes and light anxiety.I weaned myself off, per the cardiologist, 10 weeks ago. The first 7 weeks weren't bad. A few days a week of light anxiety that I needed to take a Xanax a few days out of those weeks . But the last 3 + weeks have been HORRIBLE!
I have a PRN script of Xanax my doctor gave me to take as needed (low dose, .25 mg). I've had to take it 16 out of the last 23 days. I don't want to take it if I don't need it. But it's the only thing that helps, honestly. And I'm almost out of them.
For some people who don't know what parnate does, the shortened version is it increases certain neurotransmitters, such as epinephrine and norepinephrine, from being broke down so there are more of these brain chemicals available to effect changes in both cells and circuits that have been impacted by depression.
I'm wondering if this, along with coming off of bisoprolol, is causing this bad anxiety? On top of what parnate normally does, I am now dealing with beta receptors that now are trying to deal with 100% of my adrenaline, instead of just a portion of it that used to be blocked.
I have never suffered from anxiety my whole life, even when I was going through my depression, or even had to take a benzo for any reason. So I know it's the bisoprolol withdrawal causing this.
As anyone on a MAOI and coming off of bisoprolol, or another beta blocker, having difficulty? I am seriously at my wits end. I feel defeated, pissed, and like this is never going to end! Or that my central nervous system is never going to get back pre-bisoprolol!
