Latest blood test result show NT-proBNP (COBAS) 1159 which doubled in the last year. Cardiologist said it's high but not alarming. Anyone has similar experience to share.

I have HF and AF with LV EF51.3%.

Hello!

I had an NSTEMI 6 months ago due to Microvascular dysfunction (Probably clotting)

I did BNP Last week and was 460. My cardiologist said "no problem" ... I feel short breathe though. She is a renowned MD in heart failure.

Been keeping active and playing tenis, but sometimes this dyspnea episodes are very bad.

My husband's NT-proBNP doubled to a 1000 last year, his EF was 30, he has severe HF. His cardiologist wasn't concerned either, 1000 sounds a lot but it is still a low number.

I hope you're keeping well. Can I ask why your cardiologist wanted the test done?

I have HF and AF and EF at 55%. BNP recently at 914, reduced from 996 in April. My GP is not overly concerned but I have recently started on dapagliflozin. Have you been given any indication whether anything can be done to reduce BNP? Female 72 years

I am always on same medicine for the last years however about 2 years ago I started on empagliflozin ( seems same as dapagliflozin) but still my NT-proBNP going up slightly every six months. Wish you the best of health.

Thank you. I'm asymptomatic at the moment so it feels like I've been hit by a brick these last six months! All the best to you too.

COBAS BNP results can go up to 35000. EF is more important.

Don't worry too much about it. Mine was 7000 a few years ago, then it went to 2000 and last year it was back to 5000. I feel more or less the same and I am taking the same medications.

well, there’s always someone worse off than you…

My BnP levels were over 5000 and I have an EF of 15/17%.

Very recently my thyroid has gone barmy and put me into arrhythmia which has reduced to afib and palpitations.

It’s uncomfortable and worrying but I don’t think it’s life-threatening at current levels.

Ho hum…
