No more arthritis pain after bypass

Before my bypass I was diagnosed with arthritis in my knee , calcification in my shoulder and therefore chest and back pains were considered an extension of the rest of my symptoms, However after my triple bypass so far nearly five years on these pains have simply vanished. Ok I now know the chest and back pains were angina but what about the rest? How come they too disappeared . I’m wondering if the inflammation in my knee and shoulder which was x rayed was indeed a marker for what was to come ? I mean I should still be still having the arthritic pains of some sort because it is considered progressive . Very odd

'morning Pollypuss, pleased your aches and pains have disappeared. I had a lumbar decompression and discectomy many years ago and have always suffered with backache off and on since. However, since my OHS in November 2022, I have no back pain or issues and I'm definitely more supple. I am assuming it must be the medication I'm taking for my heart. It's definitely weird. Best wishes.

Thanks for your reply . On reflection all I take is a small aspirin but I daresay so are the people on statins who have problems with aches and pains. Yes it most odd !

definitely odd! Is it worth having a heart attack in order to get rid of arthritis, I ask myself!

No such luck for me. 4x CABG in July and still hurting in the usual places . Having a new left hip on 17th October 🙌🏻🙌🏻..

Really sorry about that. July is still quite early and hopefully you will have the relief I had, However for months after my op I had strange symptoms like breathless and strange chest discomfort . I attributed this to my body getting used to the new “system” Something which has never been the same is my memory and my inability to sleep like I used to. Good luck with your operation and hope you get relief from pain

Many people think at least some arthritis pain is actually due to TMS, The Mindbody Syndrome, the same reason certain back issues cause pain in some people but not others.

It could be you're holding yourself differently, and maybe walking straighter. It's good news.
