Hi there, looking for a bit of information. I have just taken my first dose of Bisoprolol1.25mg. at 12:00. Just now I went to brush my hair and I could see my neck pulse. Would this be because of starting a new medication? , or have I randomly noticed it? I checked my B/P and my HR and both were fine. I should add I have been put on this to help with increased ectopic beats. Thank you for reading 😊.

Hi I take 10 mg a day and have never noticed anything like that, but we are all different.

Thank you for replying. I’m on a very low dose so I’m beginning to think it’s nothing to worry about. If it continues I’ll ask my GP about it. I’ve read that people do see their pulse especially if thin, I’m sadly not thin but rather scrawny around my neck 😂.

Hello I take 1.25 Biso and have noticed only improvements in my AF / flutter. Give it time and it should really help x

Thank you , I think they may have already improved after just one day on it , hoping it’s just not wishful thinking or coincidence.

Hello :-)

That is a low dose and I cannot see it causing what you have described maybe you just happened to notice it and it could always be like this for you but as you say if you keep seeing it then speaking to your Doctor will give you peace of mind

Let us know how you get on :-) x

Thank you 😊. I think you are right . My Daughter said to stop worrying but I think we all struggle with that when we have heart issues. As you say I’m on a very low dose and have only had one tablet but strangely my ectopics which have been more or less 24/7 and as the Paramedics that took me to hospital with it said are regularly irregular have been much better this afternoon and evening. I hope that’s the Bisoprolol working already and not just coincidence , time will tell and I’ll update everyone here. It’s so good to have this group. Take care ☺️.

Hello :-)

I am just the same any little difference I see or feel since my heart issues I start wondering it nearly drives me mad and all the positives like you have been told already I seem to ignore

Look forward to hearing how you get on :-) x

Hi ,I take a low dose of bisoprolol, I have noticed things like that, but I would,t worry about it because I noticed it when I was taken off it as well, before being put back on it ,I think sometimes when your put on new drugs you look for strange things and feelings,I know I did,,I hope things will get better.

If pulse ok then you're ok you may be anxious about starting this but it is a small dose

Yes pulse and B/P were all fine and I’ve made it through the night 😂, and with less ectopics so hopefully this will be the start of the end of them or at least less of them. I’m seeing a Cardiologist in November. Thank you 😊

I know what you mean about getting through the night 😅 I take tramadol and gabapentin at night for knee pain( waiting for new one) both can affect breathing and so can't take together, the pharmacist said don't worry take gabapentin at 8pm and tramadol at 10pm- so wrote a note saying pharmacist told me to take these if I'm dead-- 🤣😂 but am ok!!

Oh dear 😂, if we didn’t laugh we’d cry but that’s the sort of thing I would do too. I didn’t sleep much and I think it’s because I usually take Cocodamol at bedtime and again through the night because I too am waiting for 2 knee surgeries and my gallbladder to be removed after having Sepsis from it. I’ve always thought my ectopics were triggered by tummy issues and strange they have got worse since my gallbladder problems 🤔 but whenever I’ve said to the various Doctors etc about the tummy link they just brush it off.

Thank you 😊, if you don’t mind me asking do you take it for ectopics? It’s good to hear something positive about Bisoprolol.

I take 1.25 as well and have been for 4 years with no side effects. Mine was to slow my heart down while I waited for heart surgery. Have you been told what time to take it? We are all different and I take mine in the morning so that my heart rate doesn’t go too low at night

Hello 😊, no it just said on the box to take at the same time of day so like you I took it yesterday mid morning because I take other tablets first thing and thought I’d better space them out a bit so I will keep taking it in the morning. Thank you and good luck with your heart surgery.

I’ve been taking 1.25 of Bisoprolol since Oct 23 for ectopics and have not experienced side effects. However occasionally I get niggly aches in my chest. I’ve had 2 ECGs and both have come back saying everything looks ok but I’m not convinced. I’m going to ask GP if I can be referred to Rapid Chest Pain Clinic. Would be good to hear if anyone has attended this. In May this year I asked to see a cardiologist but so far have heard nothing.

Hello 😊, has it helped your ectopics? I’ve had two contrast CT scans and apart from a bit of fluid and slight left sided enlargement all is good and I’ve lost track of how many ECG’s I’ve had but they just keep saying it’s all nothing to worry about. I’m seeing a Cardiologist in November but it must be so frustrating for all of us because waiting times are horrendous. Hopefully your GP will help, let us know how you get on and thank you for replying.

Hello. Yes I would say my heart doesn’t beat as rapidly as it used to. I keep an eye on my heart rate with my Apple Watch and the resting rate is always low 40s. Again I’ve been told it is a bit low but if I feel ok otherwise then nothing to worry about. I also bought a. BP monitor and the readings are always within a good range. I do worry about my health which doesn’t help but I just want someone to convince me that all really is ok.

I can empathise with you on that. I’ve always worried as both my parents had heart issues although they both lived into their mid 80’s. I’m definitely not noticing as many ectopics today and when I do rather then them being as continuous they ease off quicker so maybe it’s helping already 🤞🏻. I have an Apple Watch and like you monitor things on it. I do ECG’s on it as well. I just have to not keep look at it all the time 😂.

Hello it is such a low dose ….maybe it was a coincidence noticing pulse?..I take 10.00 mg don’t notice much at first taking..felt odd but that was normal..it’s okay now

Grannysue12 profile image
Grannysue12 in reply toPipedreams

That’s good, I’ve only been on it since yesterday but so far no side effects and hopefully I won’t get any as it’s such a low dose. Thank you for replying 😊.

I'm on this as well for the same reason. I think your observation is incidental, it has nothing to do with the meds. I f any thing it will lower your HR and BP, keep monitoring and keep a diary.

Grannysue12 profile image
Grannysue12 in reply toJedi14

Thank you 😊. Do you mind me asking if it has helped your ectopics?

It has been a rollercoaster heart journey so far! Before Bisoprolol, I had angina attacks for several weeks and was having to use GTN spray daily, so after a short stay in hospital and sevral tests later, I was put onto this powerful beta blocker, never had to use the spray again.

I would say it certainly helped in reducing my ectopics, to a certain level but not completely? Initially slows you down in general, but good control with HR and BP. Need to watch HR, BP does not go too low along with other meds, I had to drop BP med (with pharmacy advice) when starting Bisoprolol. 6 months overdue for a cardiac reveiw, now in November.

hi sue. I’m on 11.25 daily and the only thing Iv noticed is that I could sometimes sleep on a barbed wire fence in a ten force gale and still not wake up!!

It’s probably just how you had your head bent when brushing your hair. I wouldn’t worry about it.👍

All the best

Ron

It certainly is !! The first two days my rhythm was so much better but the last two days it’s been bad again 🤷‍♀️. I guess it’s early days but I’m a bit disappointed after the first two days being better.
