Right Arm Pain after Angiplasty
Hi Sunny,
When I had my angiogram in 2022, I believe it took a month for my arm and wrist to completely heal. It was sore and painful for most of the month. I would suggest that your dad avoids using that arm as much as he can for the time being. I found placing a cushion or pillow under my arm when sleeping helped or when sitting or resting. He can also take painkillers approved by his doctor for pain relief as well. A heat pad might also help.
All the best for your dad’s recovery.

Hi …. I had the same procedure in April. I had extreme pain in area between wrist and elbow for about one month after . I did go to emergency as I was concerned about blood clot. Investigation showed nothing , and I was told sometimes it’s just deep bruising . I tried using a splint while sleeping and tried to avoid using my right hand as much as possible… Which is tough when you’re right handed. I used a splint while sleeping and tired to limit using my right hand as much as possible… Which is tough when you’re right handed. I did lots of ice packs . For me, this was probably the worst part of the procedure because of the pain. I would say have it looked at to be sure . Everything is fine now though. Best of luck
mine took just over two weeks for the soreness and bruising to completely go away.
I had no pain at all but after the second one, boy was my arm BLACK right from wrist to elbow. It took about a month to clear. The nurse had released the pressure bandage too early
thnks for reply😊
The sorness is temporary, should be ok after a few days. Are you taking aspirin as well? Because that's a pain killer too. Otherwise take paracetomol.
yeah he is taking a additional paracetamol
It’s been nearly a year since I had angioplasty/stent. They first attempted to go in arm but unsuccessful a d ended up going in groin. I’ve had pain in right arm since and it’s getting worse. Not sure if there’s also carpal tunnel there but am going to see GP about it.
it will take 1 or 2 years for stent to settle in . I was a ex semi alcoholic , I didn’t help myself at first , change your way of thinking, yes it’s hard staying in a positive frame of mind , keep yourself busy, but most of all listen to your body , get a food tolerance test done , this will help with some of the angina symptoms then will find out what foods disagree with you, I now use soya milk , and oatmeal bread for example so it doesn’t bloat. you, then the acid reflux doesn’t build up so much
