HiHad my mitral valve repair op in March and 3 day's after op developed pancreatitis, according to staff in Edinburgh royal they have never had this happen to anyone due to surgery. After returning to my local hospital in Inverness they said it was not uncommon for accute pancreatitis to occur after the trauma of surgery .

Has anyone else experienced this setback or is it as rare as Edinburgh royal infirmary insist?

Yes. I had pancreatitis after some stents. My local hospital said it can happen after heart intervention.

I hope you are doing OK, and it clears up soon. It wasn't very pleasant.

Hi Kristin It's not pleasant l know but although 4 months on l am still taking Creon capsules as they said it was a severe pancreatitis and don't want to stop the medication too soon. I hope you are fully recovered and like me don't let it stop you living your life and enjoying a wine or 2 at the end of a day.

Im sure that’s the key…. being determined to get on with enjoying life, even after some pretty scary heart events.

My journey has been rather long and convoluted, life now very enjoyable, tho’ different. But yes…the pericarditis cleared up and has never returned.

Is ‘your’ pericarditis still ‘lurking’?

My goodness how very sloppy I am. Didn’t notice autocorrect either, I am so sorry.

I do hope it settles. Coping with these health challenges is really tough, and you do sound wonderfully positive.

Apologies again.
