TAVI aortic valve replacement

My husband underwent a successful operation this week at the new Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge. I was amazed when he was allowed home 24 hrs after the op. Although he said it was an ordeal and he is now in some discomfort from the TAVI site in his groin, he is doing well. He had a triple bypass 4 yrs ago at the old Papworth Hospital and has a pacemaker and ICD. We are all so grateful that through continuous research survey advances in heart surgery and care can be made.

Great news he is doing well. I have a friend who works in cardiology at Papworth I will let them know what a great job they do.

Yes its amazing isn't it. I had my Mitral valve replaced by TAVI and was out next day. In the New Year I am having the Tricuspid valve replaced and whilst the procedure is slightly different I am not so scared of this op.

That was why Mick Jagger chose TAVI as it has a quick recovery. When I asked for it in 2012 I was told that I was too fit for that and had a tissue valve replacement :-)

I had a tissue valve 4 years ago. I was riding the horse within 6 weeks though.

Looking back at you previous post why did you need the TOE ?

I had one after my valve replacement while still in hospital as I had fluid on a lung and AF that didn't respond to the cardioversion they did

That was good going. It took me twelve week to be fit enough to go to the races on my own.
