Coronary sinus reducer

Has anyone had the Coronary Sinus Reducer procedure carried out, I have 9 stents, all LAD, also LAD has became occluded and has signs of dissection. Ongoing severe unstable angina.

Procedure is being considered at Edinburgh Royal and they and my health authority are talking about funding.

Was looking to talk with anyone who has had or is being considered for this procedure.

Hi Arthur1962,

Hi Arthur1962

I am am sorry you are living with unstable angina too😥

Mine is due to vasospastic angina.

My Cardiologist is weary of the sinus reducer as it could make my vasospasms worse. ...me too for the same reason. It is basically experimental and once in it cannot be removed. Nobody actually knows how it works.

There is very little research into this intervention. Most research has been carried out by the manufacturers.

There is this study involving about 50 participants

The interesting querk is that with Refractory and unstable angina there is a very high placebo effect with such interventions .

Have you been seen by a Pain Management Specialist? Another option is a spinal cord stimulator.

My understanding is the device increases pressure within the artery and it’s then supposed to relieve the angina.

I’m on 17 different medication per day and in morphine to deal with the pain.

Yes that's my understanding too. The blood pools in the heart muscle. However they don't understand the mechanism of how it improves angina.

It is not an option for me as it could make my vasospasms worse.

I also live with Refractory angina.

The only time I am pain free is when I am on very high doses of IV GTN and morphine.

I am top doses of most of the many anti angina medication I take.

I find oxygen and a TENS machine helpful. 2 hot water bottles.

I also have various other stratergies too such as CBT, self hypnosis and Mindfulness meditation , Tai Chi and yoga.

I hope you find your way of living with your pain. It is very tough living with Refractory angina.

Do say how you get on. I would be really interested to hear how it goes for you.

Not what you're looking for?
