I am currently on my second box of eplerenone 50mg and the side effects are totally different from the first box.
The first box gave me chest pains, lower face irritation and redness around the nose area. The second is just making sweat profusely. Drinking tea,hot meal, going for a walk and playing golf just brings me out in streams of sweat.
So my question is it normal that I am experiencing such differences in side effects. All my other meds have stayed the same.
Many thanks
Have a great day

I see that you are on Ramipril, Doxazosin, Amlodipine and now Eplerenone... exactly why you have 4 different medications beggars belief. It suggests to me that maybe they are trying to find out which medication works for you. However, trying toachieve a balance between 4 medications seems ludicrous.
From what you say, Eplerenone clearly doesn't suit you. I would therefore suggest that you speak to whoever prescribed the Eplerenone and advise them of your symptoms. To my mind, sooner rather than later.
I had adrenal vein sampling done in July. My right adrenal gland is faulty and will be removed in the new year.
They've put me on eplerenone to stop the production of aldosterone and for a while had me off the doxazosin and amlopidine but my BP went on the rampage hence they reintroduced the meds. They're intention was to increase the eplerenone to 100mg but side effects have put a stop to that for the time being.
I take Aspirin.Statin,Entresto,Dapagliflozin,Bisoprolol,Lansoprazole and Just one every other day Eplenerone. My BP is a little low hence only oneEplenerone every other day.
Have you read the information leaflet that comes with the Eplerenone to see what it says about side effects !! These questions are difficult for anyone to answer because we all take meds for different reasons. Eplenerone is a mild diuretic so in Heart Failure it help reduce water retention and also lowers Blood pressure.
I was prescribed Eplerenone following my HA and stents in my RCA pending surgery to bypass the vessels on the left side of my heart. The only side affect was that it rather embarassingly affected my chest, so I was glad to come off it a few months after my bypass.
Ah, now it becomes clear. I am on eplerenone and have been for about 4-5 years. I have lost weight in the past, about 2stone early on and put it back on. Now for about the last 6 months I have lost 2stone again but just can’t seem to lose it around my chest area, man boobs is what it is!!!!! I was wondering how it wasn’t moving fat from the area and never considered it was my medication….. thanks for clearing it up, don’t feel so bad now I have a “C” cup chest as a 55 year old man.
I was only on Eplerenone for 15 months so it didn't develop too far... just enough to make me want to wear my loosest tee shirts. 😯 Thankfully it has reduced over time. I didn't suffer any noticeable weight change, either up or down, as a result of being on the medication.
Yes, there has been a gradual reduction and I am no longer concerned about my chest, though as a 71 year old male, it's not that much of an issue. 😁 Of course I don't know what profile my chest would have been had I never been on the medication. I suspect not that different to what it is now. I was on Eplerenone for 15 months.
Hello, I have been on Eplerenone for about 2.5 years to treat primary hyperaldosteronism and immediately noticed the profuse sweating you mention with very low exertion. My doc is not aware that this is a side effect but it became very clear to me that Eplerenone is causing this. There is a new medication that is in stage 3 trials called Baxdrostat that I’d like to try once it’s available. Curious if anyone else has experienced these symptoms with Eplerenone and if you were able to get them to subside. Thanks!
