hello

Is there any advice anywhere about recovering, or living with, broken pupic bone. I was knocked down by a cyclist . Tramaldan makes me sick, so does Co codamol.

Blood pressure no bother just now but can’t get into another group .

Thanks

Hello,

I’m sorry to hear about your accident.

I also don’t respond to morphine or codeine very well. It makes me nauseous, and sometimes vomit, as well as dropping my BP which causes faint-like symptoms.

You could try something like Ibuprofen which is an anti-inflammatory after discussing it with your GP instead and see if that helps.

I hope you find some relief soon.

All the best with your recovery.

Tos

Thank you, managed to find your post at last. I ended up cutting off all pain killers, and feeling better for it. I don’t know about ibuprofen and doctor didn’t mention it. Although kind, she does seems on autopilot. Obviously overworked.

What a dreadful thing to happen, Sartrou - I'm so sorry, it sounds really painful for you.

I can't take codeine or any morphine derivatives either, it makes me extremely nauseous and faint - and REALLY interferes with my bowel!

I was able to manage with paracetamol in ICU immediately after a triple bypass operation, it suited me really well and kept any pain from a split sternum at bay. I did have to use the full dose (2 tablets x 4 times per day) for a week or so though.

I do hope you'll find a painkiller that helps. Carol

Thanks Carol, that’s sounds really tough. Glad you did find a way to keep pain at bay. I tried the Paracetamol only, just like you, and yes no much pain when not moving but feeling more and more sick, better now after almost 4 weeks of nearly non stop sleeping and only occasional eating , lentils soup only, perhaps they contain a secret painkiller!!!

I have to be honest, Sartrou - it was a lot less tough that I was expecting it to be prior to the op! While in hospital the surgeon recommended that I take the 2 tablet dose every four hours before I actually needed it for a few days and it worked out really well at keeping pain at bay. Like yourself, any sort of pain medication seems to knock me out so I spent quite a few hours over the later couple of weeks pleasantly snoozy! I've always found though, that if I take paracetamol over the course of a few days that once I stop taking it, I end up with a headache. 😂 I hope you manage to get over that horrible sick feeling - maybe once you can manage again with a decreased dose, it'll fade away. 🤞 Glad the lentil soup's doing the job - maybe you should patent the recipe! 😊🙂

Thanks . Well just split lentils, organic carrots and lots of garlic, all just boiled. 😀

Didn’t have it yesterday, and feeling yukky again, getting back on it today

Ouch! On a practical point, buy an air ring, like children learn to swim with. This means your pubic bone is not being compressed when you sit down, which will help with the healing process.

Thanks, will do. I must say that my articulated bed helped a lot, have not sat much yet. Wondering how long if ever can I go back on my bike. I am elderly!

I am sorry to hear about your accident.

Non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs NSAIDs like Ibuprofen aren't usually recommended for heart patients.

Perhaps talk to your GP or Pharmacist about whether you can use a topical gel containing a NSAIDs ?

I broke my ribs a few years ago and this is what my GP prescribed.

On another note midwives no longer recommend women sit on a ring as it increases the chances of a deep vein thrombosis.

The recommendation now is to put two pillows side by side and to sit in the ' valley' between the pillows.

Lying on your side with a pillow between your knees may help your pubic bone pain as well.

I had problems with pain in my pubic bone during my pregnancies and this helped with my pain along with hot water bottles and paracetamol.

I hope your pain eases soon.
