Hi all if you were going to have an allergic reaction by taking Bisraprol would it have happened within 4 weeks of taking the drug? I was in hospital over Xmas with SVT and was given Bisraprol now I’ve asked my GP for a repeat prescription but I’ve been told I’m allergic to it, even though I have never taken this drug before.

Bisraprol allergic reaction
if you have asthma then beta blockers can cause problems. if you don't have asthma then it is unclear why you would be allergic if you have never taken it before.
suggest that you speak to the doctors about it to see why you can't have esp as you have never taken it before.
Thanks for this much appricate yes it’s baffling me why I can’t get repeat prescription I have an appointment with them next Wednesday
I suffer of athsma and bisoporol aggravated my athsma to the point I was having breathing crises.
This was a gradual process and got really bad after 3 months .
I didn't think it was a side effect of the bisoporol until a doctor told me that they shouldn't had it prescribed in hospital knowing that I had athsma.
I don't usually read sides effects etc(I do read them now) as it made me paranoid, anyway every medicine can cause similar side effects so where to draw the line? I was just taking them and hoping for the best with a sort of trust in whom prescribed them to me.
But Ignoring them didn't work in my case.
I have then been given something else that didn't interview with my athsma, called diltiazem.
Hope this helps
Best wishes
Hi Padayn01
I don’t suffer from asthma but Bisoprolol had side effects for me and I stuck with the drug from August last year to a week ago and went back to my dr because I was struggling to walk, couldn’t breathe freely and was constantly tired and extremely cold all the time even in heated rooms. I have now been put on Adizem - diltiazem and it has made such a difference. I am able to walk and exercise again and the tiredness has gone. My chemist told me that Adizem was a better drug than Bisoprolol.
Beta blockers made my coronary artery spasms worse. So much so that I ended up in Hospital for 5 days.
Oh no so what medication are you on now? Did they change it at the hospital?
I take isosorbide mononitrate extended release tablets
Diltiazem and Amlodopine
Nicorandil.
It is written in my records that I am intolerant of beta blockers.
Still get asked when I go into hospital why I am not taking beta blockers!
It may bet hat you have a known allergy to just one of the ingredients. I would push for an earlier appointment.
Cheers for that but would I have seen a reaction of any sort within 4 weeks of taking it?
I would have thought you'd have seen an allergic reaction within a couple of days but an intolerance can take longer until it builds up in your system. Side effects are very different from allergies. YOu definitely need to see the GP ASAP
