Can someone please help I have been on Ranolazine for 2 and half weeks I was very concerned by the amount of adverse reactions this medication reacts with but still took it on advice of cardiologist. I had a unrelated water infection 2 days ago and dr prescribed nitrofuratin and within 15 minutes I was in agony my feet felt on fire my body was very itchy and after a panic attack I called 111 they didn’t phone back till 630 the following morning and I didn’t dare take my night meds so then got my own Gp and she prescribed me pivmecillinam hydrochloride for for water infection I only took 1/2 a tablet then he later the second half I feel ok so far but now I need my night meds and don’t want to take the Ranolazine anymore but very scared any advice would be greatly appreciated and if anyone can let me know if they take the same drug?

Hi. I have been taking this since March last year. The dose has been increased and I’m now on 750mg twice a day. I had r no reason/evidence for saying this but I don’t like it. I suppose I blame it for constant bloated abdomen and stomach and increased weight but really it could be any of the meds I take! And to be fair my heart issues did improve for quite a while. Not much help to you but I would talk to GP or cardiologist if you have concerns. There is such a variety of meds available that there is bound to be something if this doesn’t suit you. Good luck

Have you talked to a chemist? They know much more about drug reactions, interactions than GPs. Ask your GP for an alternative.

Hi. I too had a reaction with this drug. Chronic constipation and such a dry mouth I could hardly speak. I was told by my GP to speak to the Cardiologiust and he took me off it and didnt prescribe anything else. I have been ok since. Definitely speak to your GP.

I’m a pharmacist. You need to take these concerns to your pharmacist(we’re not chemists btw, that’s the name of the building) or GP. Any interaction with your other meds will have been flagged on both the GP and the pharmacy computers at the very minimum before it was prescribed and dispensed I wasn’t clear if you were worried about drug interactions or side effects. But I’m not giving medication advice here as would need your entire summary care record and also this isn’t the place to give advice.
