Echocardiogram results

hi I had a echocardiogram in February this year and I finally got a letter on Wednesday. According to the letter it say there is mild ventricular hypertroyhy, preserved right ventricular function and no obvious significant valvular abnormality. Yesterday I went to see consultant who basically told me there is nothing wrong and I’m just stressed. I am totally confused by it all.

Hi ihave an enlarged right ventricle but my heart function is ok but it's hard to not worry as your heart is the only thing that keeps you alive! Why don't you contact the bhf nurses as they could probably give you peace of mind,I think the heart can cope with lots of stress and a lot of people live with enlarged hearts

They told me I had tachycardia but no AF. Dud they suggest medication or exercise. I was told to cut down salt coffee and alcohol. I am 66.

Look upon it as a fantastic result. Go out and celebrate. You've got the all clear so why are you confused?

it seems that your mild hypertrophy (thickenning of the heart muscle) is not enough to cause the consultant to be concerned

preserved function means it is unaffected, so no cause for concern there - also the valves show no abnormality

what is the aspect of that which confuses you? as sandandkev suggests, why not call the BHF helpline and ask theme if they can explain

that is what they told me. The private cardiologist wanted to put me in beta blockers but I refused because I read it’s not safe if your a woman over 60. He told me go on anti anxiety meds which I might try. My cat got run over and I think that raised my Bp.
