Hi.Does anyone else find themselves plagued by vivid dreams and nightmares? Ive been told Amlodipine can cause them but ive been taking it for ages now a few years at least.
Could it be bisoprolol, prasugrel or Atorvastatin interacting? Or one of those themselves? Ive only been taking them a couple of months.

It happened to me, generally when I was having my meds adjusted or new ones prescribed but it seems to have eased off a lot now and I haven't had any experiences for a few weeks now. Like you, I am on so many pills that it's difficult to know which might have caused it but I would say give it a month or so and if it still causes you worry etc speak with your gp and pharmacist.
I've been on Amlodipine since January and I started having crazy vivid dreams every night soon after so, for me, it's definitely the Amlodipine I think. I now wake up feeling like I've been busy all night long!! Having said that I also started on Atorvastatin last year so, as you say, maybe there's an interaction between the two meds. However my cousin is also on Amlodipine and no other meds and also has the crazy dreams. It's a mystery. I'm due a review soon with my GP so I'm going to speak to her about it as I'm not sure I can spend the rest of my days dreaming like that every night. The Amlodipine make me tired as it is so the tiredness from dreaming just adds to it! High BP is an absolute pain in the backside🙄😂
My HF nurse mentioned vivid nightmares as a symptom with Bisoprolol and I did have them when I was first on them, but the nightmares disappeared after a couple of months thankfully. I hope yours subside too.
I get weird dreams often. They seem to come and go in phases. As others have mentioned Bisoprolol may well be the culprit. Sometimes I feel a genuine sense of relief when I wake up and spend a few minutes telling myself "It was only a dream".
Mine are like that. I can wake up feeling a distressed which can last for a few hours. Ive even woke up and felt confused because of how real the dream has seemed.
My husband gets bad nightmares, frightens the life out of both of us when he calls out suddenly. He is on Atorvastatin, Metoprolol, Ramipril and Omeprazole. With such a cocktail it’s hard to know which is the culprit. He’s been on them all for 5 years now but the nightmares didn’t start till after about 2 years.
I’ve just been out on a higher dose of Bisoporol and yesterday the nurse rang to ask how I was getting in and asked me if I was having lots of dreams and nightmares so obviously a connection there.
I am on both Bisoprolol and Atorvastatin and get vivid dreams as well, but had never connected the two!! I have upper back and neck problems so if I have stressful dreams my muscles tense and I get tension and Cervicogenic headaches. Spending a fortune on osteopathy and accupuncture to help, but perhaps a reassessment of my drugs might help??
Bisoprolol (a beta blocker) is a known trigger for disturbed sleep and nightmares - if you can not be prescribed an alternative have you tried shiting the time at which you take it? a morning dose might reduce the night-time effects, but it might leave you feeling a bit tired during the day
I was on Amlodipine, the lowest dose of Bisoprolol 1.25mg and just 20mg Atorvastatin as well as warfarin. I was having mad dreams for many years calling out in the middle of the night and actually waking myself and the missus up. On one occasion, I kicked over the little bed side table while having a fight with someone or something (might have been a giant rat). About 6 months ago, the Amlodopine was switched to Lercanidipine and it was only after I read a couple of posts on this forum that I realised there might be a connection with the medication change and a cessation of the overly mad dreams I was having. I'm fairly convinced it was the Amlodipine that was the cause of the dreams.
I've been on atorvastatin for last couple of years and I've had really vivid dreams since I started taking it. Fortunately they are not unpleasant, so don't really bother me!
I had these , and quite intense and frightening . What I did was to wake up as soon as I could ( most time agitated and a cold sweat) write down on a writing pad everything about the dream . In the morning in the cold light of day , read back what you wrote , and this then shows that a lot of it was nota as bad as what was experienced , You then physically screw it up and throw it in the bin. Keep doing this and ( for me) these bad dreams slowly fade as your psychology of reading them in the day and throwing them in the bin, counteracts what you are dreaming about and this will hopefully make bad dreams a little less stressful
