missed doses of bisoprolol

Hi

I’m hoping for a bit of reassurance I think.

Stupidly I missed the bisoprolol out of my tablet box so haven’t had any since last Friday. I only realised today and took the normal dose.

My concern is that I felt really rough from Monday, I thought I had flu, achy all over, especially shoulders, arms, neck, chest and back, even into my legs sometimes, plus a bit dizzy and sick, racing heart, palpitations. Now I’m thinking it might have been cardiac pain? No flu or cold symptoms and feeling a bit better today.

My question is really, should I tell a GP ? I’m thinking they will just say don’t worry??

Thanks

Helen

Hello regards missed doses then I’d say just start taking again as normal. Maybe a checklist on your fridge to check every time you fill your pill boxes but then you have to remember to look at the fridge but your more likely when we all visit our fridges multiple times a day😊

it could be sheer coincidence that you hard these symptoms when you also hadn’t taken that med, or the two could be related but only a doctor can reassure you on that.

it’s worth a conversation with GP or 111.

If they say don’t worry then that’s a good thing.

Good luck.

Hello

What is your dose of Bisoprolol ? and as important why are you on this Medication ? Sounds as though you have dodged any steep increase in your Heart Rate. Worth a check with a professional.

Regards

I’m on 3.75mg , still awaiting final results from cardiology but so far I know I have a murmur and a weak left ventricle. I have high BP and taking candesartan, Indapamide and Amlodipine for that.

Hello :-)

I do not think you will be the first or the last to do this but I would not panic and start them as now

If it will reassure you then you could always phone the pharmacist where you get your repeats from and just ask

What I do is I have a tablet box

Every Sunday in I get all my tablet boxes put them to one side and one by one but them in my tablet box for the week

As I put one tablet in I then put that tablet boc back in the bag I keep repeats in that way at the end I can see I have put every tablet I need for the week as all the boxes are back in the bag if this makes any sense

But it works for me :-)

Let us know how you get on :-) x

Do you know what your blood pressure was/is? I ask because my experience was when I was asked to reduce my 5mg to 2.5mg Bisoprolol after two years because my body decided it didn’t like it, was firstly lethargy then breathlessness and then constant stable/ unstable angina (sharp pains going down left arm). That was within a few days of halving Bisoprolol.

Never thought to check my blood pressure! It was 190/80 🙄. I’m on other blood pressure tablets as well. Didn’t realise Bisoprolol had an effect on pressure as well as heart rate. Anyway a wee “spa” day in cardiology and they sorted me out. I’m now on Ivabradine and it changed my life. I’m able to achieve more fitness wise. I read you are on medication for other reasons than a sudden stemi HA but thought I’d mention the blood pressure effect.

Hope you get it all sorted.😊

Thank you

When I stopped panicking about it I did take my blood pressure. It wasn’t too bad for me, so I decided to check it again tomorrow and so long as it’s ok ish I will stick to the plan of trying to lose weight, reduce salt and booze before GP review in March, oh, and try to take my tablets properly 🤣

Thank you for replying

There's not really much a doctor can say apart from continue as normal. I once had to stop mine for a few days for tests. In that few days I expereinced some withdrawal symptoms. Pain in shoulders and across chest. It subsided once I began to take them again. Perhaps what you experienced was withdrawal pain. In a sense you basically stopped them cold turkey without intentionally doing it.

You can ask the chemist to pack your tablets for you into a prefilled daily blister pack. I'm thinking of doing this myself, as I sometimes make mistakes. I was 70 this week and I am trying to remain self sufficient in the face of an ageing body and mind, so have resisted this solution so far...

I keep my tablet blister packs that I’m using in a small plastic tray (like the fruit ones from the supermarket) and I replenish my tablet box from there by tipping the box out and putting the blister pack back as I take a tablet out. As soon as a blister pack is empty I then replace it from the box it comes in From the chemists. That way I know that I’ve included all my tablets each day.

Not what you're looking for?
