Hi, went out for lunch today with wife and kids. It was the first time since my NSTEMI MI 5 weeks ago. We went to a new restaurant and I nearly burst into tears as I suddenly felt really emotional about being there. The overwhelming feeling was that it could have been a different outcome 5 weeks ago and if it had been then I would never have experienced this lunch in this new place. I feel like I want to do more new things and want to go to more new places with this second chance of life.

Is this just me being over emotional or have others felt this way?

Totally get that, we had the kids and grandkids over on 28th which was just over a month since my NSTEMI and I found it quite emotional. I've not yet uot the confidence up to go out for lunch yet but suspect when I do I will have a similar reaction to you.

Hello :-)

This is totally normal and what I am so happy to hear is that you feel such a new lease of life after what you have been through that you want to go and see new places and do more new things

You garb it with both hands and you and your family enjoy all these new experiences your second chance has given you :-) x

Absolutely not ,I went out after 6 weeks and cried when my starter arrived ,after around 10 weeks I was comfortable going out at least twice a week and also walking round shops all your emotions are completely normal

it’s totally normal you will feel a multitude of feelings for months to come and again and again when you do something new.

Yes. Its a while ago now, for me, but your reaction sounded very similar, and quite unexpected! I imagined it would be just wonderful entering ‘real’ life again. But it was very emotional, and I felt a bit panicky and had to escape outside, take a bit of a time out, before being able to settle down, look around, and just appreciate that I had survived and was back doing everyday things.

Wonderful to hear! Enjoy all your ‘new’ experiences.

You are obviously realising how lucky you are to still be enjoying life And that's what you must always realise now and carry on doing all the things you love with your family. Take care of yourself and it's good to get emotional because it shows we care. Brian

Quite normal. My HA gave me a real kick up the bum to get more out of life and to appreciate each and every day and everyone....well nearly everyone!!

We are lucky that we live in a beautiful place and I'm out most days walking the coast and cliff tops, soaking in the beauty of the place and being so thankful that I can.

I'm far more tearful than I ever was, telling stories of sad events in my immediate family history that I used to be able to easily do now bring on a lump in my throat and tears.

I reckon that my HA made me a better person.

a traumatic experience in life can make you realise just how fragile we are.? One minute you’re here the next you’re not.!!!

Iv been in the funeral business for years and met a lot of bereaved families and heard many sad sudden death stories. It made me realise along time ago to enjoy and be grateful for every day I wake up because you never know what could be around the corner.? Enjoy your family and your loved ones and be kind to people. 👍

I had my Stemi 3 1/2 yrs ago and can totally empathise.

I still get emotional about things which before I wouldn’t have thought anything about, I think it’s only normal you appreciate what we have and how lucky we all are.

I’ve since had 7 angiograms and 5 stents to my LAD since April 2019 and tbh find it difficult to go throughout each day without feeling a tad vulnerable where as before I felt the opposite, one thing it has done is made me appreciate life more and also a work life balance along with showing more love to my friends and family.
