Just curious on how long some folk had to wait before they had bypass surgery. I’ve spoken to a couple of gentlemen, one has been waiting for nearly two years for his tripple bypass and the other waited a year and half for his quad bypass. I need a single, possibly double bypass, but waiting to see surgeon.
Many thanks for your input.
PS, had other stuff done i,e, angiogram, pressure wire study, etc.
I had my angiogram in October last year, saw the heart specialist early November. He told me I needed a quintuple bypass (5 clogged up arteries, some 99%).I then had a pre op assessment early December .....and now waiting and waiting.
The pre op is only valid for three months, so I don't know if that indicates anything.
My fiancé had pre op on December 21st 2019 and triple bypass on 27th Jan 2020.
He was told he needed a bypass in the October of 2019 after a failed attempt to stent in the September. His “priority” was increased at the pre op as his condition had considerably worsened.
Putting on my thinking cap (my memory is rubbish) I had my angiogram in Jan 2017 and my cardiologist referred me to a cardiac surgeon but I can't remember how long I waited for that appointment.
I eventually had the bypass (single) on the 2nd June 2017. I was all prepped up on 31st May but it was cancelled, luckily they kept me in and I was first down on 2nd June.
It depends on where you are and therefore the NHS Trust who normally serve you. However you might have a little flexibility if you try NHS Choice unless you have already opted to be referred to a particular hospital. Unfortunately NHS Choice is not something they want you to know about, so it is rarely offered, so you have to ask for it at the time of your referral.
