I've been trying to find statistics for waiting times for procedures/surgery in Hospitals, but I've had no luck. Does anyone know where to find this information?
I'm on the waiting list at my local hospital for a Cardiac Ablation procedure to remedy Atrial Fibrillation and Flutter. How long did you have to wait please? I've been told the waiting time could be up to a year, but the NHS on-line pages talk about 18 weeks for Hospital surgical procedures, so I'm a bit confused. Which is it? (Here's hoping it's not a whole year!)
I'm seeing the electrocardiologist in March, but it would be good to have as much information as possible before the appointment with him.
Very many thanks

I am waiting for a Convergant Ablation procedure as I too have AF.
Saw my consultant last Wed and was told I could be in called in either within weeks or months but I think this is a newish procedure and only certain people fit the criteria?
My AF is pretty much 24/7 - very rarely have no symptoms. Very occasionally I have a heart rate at 140bpm. I'm on 10mg Bisoprolol, and 300mg Fecainide daily which I understand is pretty much at maximum. I had an Ablation procedure 4 years ago which worked brilliantly almost all of the time - until 3 months ago. Hey ho...
Great news for you though. A weeks or months waiting time for Convergent Ablation sounds great.
I waited 14 months from my second cardioversion which failed on the third day. To the day when my ablation was done for, Lone Permanent AF. I then had to wait for a further appointment at my local hospital which was May 19. I was then referred to another consultant at a different local hospital. Who I saw in clinic, discussed the procedure with and by then it was September. He then did the cyroblation. ablation in December19. I now feel so much better having been in symptomatic AF. for just over 2 years
Thank you for the information, and thank goodness it's over now. Good for you for sticking with it. Fingers crossed the Ablation lasts for a long time.
I'm in Scotland, put on waiting list for ablation in September, initially told it would be early this year, but now told it won't be till end of summer. Hoping it'll be sooner though
Oh my. That a long delay from your initial expectation. It seems the waiting list is up to a year just about everywhere. Bit of a scandal, but what can you do...?
