Was found to have seriously low sodium levels..Hyponatremia...Dr said caused by my high BP medication which was discontinued thankful my sodium levels returned to normal.
My Dr is not happy to prescribe any high BP med as on checking they can all cause low sodium levels.
Am worried about my situation has anyone else has or had this problem?

I had seriously low sodium levels and had been sweating profusely on exertion for 2/3 years on the lead up to my small heart attack abroad back in September 2023. Was put on a drip for 6 days, still not sure if this was a sympton of heart failure or due to a medication I was taking previously. Have you been given any info/medication re hypotromania?
Hi Hotie, I was in the same situation as yourself last Christmas, BP had dropped ended up in hospital because i had passed out and fell and sustained a head injury, however blood tests were done and they also found my sodium levels was seriously low, anyway.. all BP meds were stopped except for my 5mg Amlodipine i took in mornings, blood tests a few days later and sodium levels went back to normal, some months later BP began to rise again so my GP put me back on BP meds Losartan but lower dose, BP stable, GP did not mention anything about not stopping BP meds forever because i need them in order stop my BP rising?? at the moment my sodium levels are normal.
To be fair i was on a high dose of BP meds before sodium levels dropped, which at the time my hospital consultant did say i should never of been on such a high dose in the first place which was 50mg Losartan at night as well as 5mg Amlodipine in morning, speak to your GP to ask if you would be offered BP medications if your BP was to start rising again, hope this helps 👍
Thank you for your detailed reply, you have certainly had horrid time. Will get in touch with GP re starting BP meds..BP still high......hopefully will find one that does not cause the sodium probs again.
Pleased you are doing OK on your message.message.Thank you much appreciated.appreciated.Stay well❤️
Yes thank you im doing ok now, your welcome, i can only go my experience, also before that happened i had changed my regime and done all the healthy eating, change of lifestyle etc...lost a lot of weight just over 20 odd kilograms which i have to say did help lower my BP, cholesterol and helped put my diabetes in to remission, however like i ssid in previous post my BP still started to creep up months after when all BP medicines were stopped at that time.Yes im sure your GP will be the best person to give you advice as we're all different and tolerate medicines differently, i still continue with healthy eating etc..but i suppose i may be just one of them people who will have to be taking BP meds for life who knows.
You take care and i hope you get the answers and the help from your GP 👍❤️
I'm on 50 Losartan and 5 amlodipine and my sodium is always low. I get cramps in my hips and legs when it drops to around 126-7 (from ave. 135-45). Did the hospital consultant ask why you shouldn't have been on that dose? Just wondering. My doctor wants me to increase the Losartan to 100 now.
Sorry for late reply, been away, no consultant did not say why apart from saying it caused my bp to drop significantly and also did say my gp should of at least been monitoring my bp on the doses i was on, however i cannot put all the blame on my gp as i should of took the initiative and monitored my bp myself for my own peace of mind, which is what i do now regularly about once a week and bp is still stable 🙂 hope you get yours sorted out 👍
in the meantime, have you tried to get your BP down via the diet and lifestyle route? Lots of information from the specialist charity Blood Pressure UK,
