As my profile says I have recently experienced an NSTEMI and had a stent fitted in December 2023.
I'm looking for advice on managing the cocktail of medication I am on which is causing me nausea and insomnia due to nausea.
It's been nearly three weeks and I still struggle to sleep due to the nausea and restlessness I experience at night. I assume its because the medication is still new but I am wondering how long it should last.
Can anyone help advise me please?
Thank you,
Comfy

Unless it says do not take with food maybe making sure you eat just something light when due to take the meds may help
You could talk to your pharmacist who can be very helpful in talking you through each medication and the best way to take them to reduce the side effects
If things do not settle down then talk with your Doctor as they can always try you on something else if needs be but hopefully you will adjust to them and let us know how you get on x
That is good hopefully they will be able to sort this out when we first start meds sometimes we have to swap and change till we get the right combination
Good morning, the GP got back to me and suggested I try taking my statin in the morning (hopefully to avoid night time nausea). I left it off last night but it made no difference. She said to try it for a few days.
I had a rough night last night - nausea from 2 AM and restlessness/muscle aches and a bit emotional with it all to be honest. A dry cough too when laid down. Is that a symptom/side effect?
I live alone so those nights are long and depressing. I know that it's early days but this sleeplessness and low mood isn't helping.
It would be helpful if you told us what other meds you are taking in addition to the statin. But as far as the statin is concerned there are are others available for your GP to try and one of them might not produce the same side effects, if, indeed, it is the statin that is causing you the problems. But if statins are the culprit for your problems and eventually you are judged to be statin intolerant there are other meds available to manage your cholesterol. The bottom line however is that you should work with your GP and perhaps the pharmacist to get the best outcome for you balancing medication needs and quality if life.
