Struggling with nausea.

I've assumed it's connected to meds but now I'm not sure. It's certainly not food related. I wake up, sit on the side of the bed then remember what lies ahead.( Husband heart, diabetes and dementia) Immediately I get this tight feeling in my gut and the nausea. I don't have any acid reflux, I'm not sick but it's there all day except when I eat say toast and it's comfortable for a while. Tonic water helps a little too. G.P. put me on the usual capsules for acid. I'm seeing her in a couple of weeks but thought there must be one of you suffering the same symptoms.

Sounds like you have a lot going to worry about which won't help.

When I had pregnancy related nausea, I lived on ginger biscuits. Might help until you can see your GP.

Yes you are right. I have the Nairns stem ginger ones but I only have two a day as I'm scared of increasing my weight problem.

What meds are you on? I found Diltiazem caused nausea.

For me pineapple juice was a good antidote.

I like the sound of pineapple juice as my body seems to be calling out for acidic foods like tomatoes and oranges.

Have you taken either metformin or a PPI for any length of time ? It could be that your stomach acid is low and taking medication has lowered it further - apparently low stomach acid can have similar symptoms to high!

If your vitamin and mineral levels have not been checked, ask your doctor to do so, as stress ‘burns up’ some of the vital b vitamins and low stomach acid prevents you from extracting them from your food.

Ginger and lemon or peppermint herbal tea is very settling.

Best wishes

Thanks for good advice. It's good to have things to try rather than just putting up with it.

It's from all the constant stress worry and anxiety, with little real respite. It's now coming out in physical symptoms. Your body's rebelling.

I had odd symptoms too at the worst period of care giving with both parents ill plus a sick body, and just ignored it all, ploughing on and on. It was a catastrophe in the making.

Thanks. I have appointment with G.P. on Tuesday. Must write a list! Dementia UK say I should be getting community nursing now for husband. Symptoms are worsening. I hope I get a positive response!

Camomile tea before going to bed. It’s very calming and helps sleep.
