Had my latest blood test done at my local hospital yesturday as the nurse at my surgery was unsuccessful in extracting any.
Had a text from my surgery last night from what they c all a sessional GP which I think is the same as a locum most of my results are normal or satisfactory apart from vitamin D now have to take this supplement for 6 weeks one tablet a week at 50,000 IU vitamin D3 was taking a multivitamin but the pharmacist told me to stop taking these while I tale the D3.
Hope it doesn't interfere with my heart meds the text said to continue with the vitamin D tablets after the six weeks but at a lower dose between 400 and 1000IUs so confused as there are different strengths maybe will have another blood test after six weeks and be told what strength to get over the counter.

1000iu is what Asda sell off the shelf, I think they call them high strength. Your multi-vit is probably 400 but I don't know for sure obviously. I actually take a 2000iu which Costco sell that is actually a small liquid capsule rather than a pill.
I wouldn't worry about the heart meds, i'm on a real cocktail and my blood always comes back OK.
Been on daily Vit D & Calcium for 10 years or more before being diagnosed with Afib and HF. I'm on all the usual meds and no interactions at all. Cardiologist is aware. HTH
When I was in hospital I must have been found to have been deficient in vitamin D as I was also put in the 50,000iu once a week for 6 weeks. Since then, I am prescribed 800iu daily which I take along with various heart medications. I check my Vitamin D levels from time to time; taking this dose gets me just into normal range. Without it, I suspect it would be too low again.
When I have a medication review at GPs, I ask about getting level checked to see if I still need vitamin D. As I have access to my GP records online, I look at the results when they come back. Having done so a couple of times, I have concluded that without the supplement, my levels would be below normal range so I'm happy to keep taking it.
It is always somewhat confusing to navigate all of the medications and/or supplements that we may need.
I do not think that I had low levels of vitamin D, but I have been taking a supplement for over a year. I was diagnosed with osteopenia in April/May 2022 (shortly after my HA in March 2022). My doctor says that higher dosages of vitamin D and exercise can help to slow the progression into osteoporosis.
I take 8,000 IU weekly of vitamin D to help with bone loss. That is a 2,000 IU pill taken four days per week.
Anyway, I have been taking that weekly dosage of vitamin D for over one year along with my medications including a statin, a beta blocker, a blood pressure pill, etc.
