I had a pm check a couple of weeks ago and was told by the nurses there that all was looking good, no problems at all . Today I had a text from my GPs surgery asking me to make a routine appointment to discuss a letter that had been sent from the cardiologist. Long shot but does anyone know what it could be about? I can’t away feeling chuffed with myself and now I’m really anxious as my telephone appointment isn’t for another week 🙁

Feeling a bit concerned
A ‘routine’ appointment means nothing to worry about, if it was anything untoward you would be getting a text asking you to call surgery to make an appointment.
I hope so it’s just that in the past I have never had to make an appointment with my GP to discuss my checkup. Just hoping I don’t have to go on any meds (I’m not on any at the moment)
Could be anything - general chat, change of thyroxine dose, adjustment of other medication, etc. Nobody here knows! Nobody here knows and over thinking will go nowhere.
I know but my endocrinologist wasn’t interested in changing my Levothyroxine dose at my last chat, he wants me to wait until my next bloods which won’t be for another couple of months yet. Whenever I have mentioned heart problems to him, he’s basically told me that my thyroid problem has nothing to do with my heart, he’s always been dismissive when I have brought it up in conversation even though he specialises in diabetes rather than the thyroid. I’m thinking of going private to a specialist thyroid consultant.
Thyroid problems can cause heart issues but I am unfamiliar with this area. Are you a member of Thyroid UK?
Do you not get copies of all the letters ? Either ask your Consultant secretary or your GP surgery for a copy so you know what's been said.
GPs are obliged to be involved with what is going on with you at the hospital, they are told to monitor your blood pressure etc ( you will probably be asked to check it yourself ) to adjust medications accordingly etc .Two indicators it’s not serious is the word “routine” and the long duration of time before the appointment.
Relax and don’t fret ( doctors orders
In my experience consultants often send letters to GPs by email but the patient's copy is sent by post and can arrive many days later. Hopefully it will arrive andcleR up your concerns.
