I am 76. Have ten stents and mostly angina, one heart attack about 2 years ago. Quite active look after husband and home. Called for annual blood pressure check. Nurse noticed long overdue for blood tests. Received e-mail to contact surgery to discuss results, obviously a problem. Phoned, no appointments available told to try again in a couple of days. Held on phone being told how important my call was then after 15 minutes the voice said I was 29th in the queue. Gave up so still have no idea what the problem is. Does NHS stand for No Health Service.

Blood Test Mystery

Hello
10 stents wow I am not sure I have come across anyone that has had 10 but they have worked as you are looking after your home and Husband
It gets more difficult for most to contact their Doctors which is frustrating but as frustrating as it is keep trying because you need to know the results
I put my phone on loudspeaker have it next to me and get on with doing something while I am waiting seems to make it more bearable
Hope you get your results soon x
If it's any consolation it doesn't sound as if it is very urgent, otherwise I think the doctor would have been on the phone straight away. Hope you manage to get to speak to someone soon.

Try going along to the surgery and waiting until you get a reply to your request .I have done this with GP practice and hospital .It usually works and i get the result i am seeking. It sounds dramatic but it seems the only way I can get answers to urgent problems.
I mentioned having giving up the previous day due to being 30th in the queue and was told that the automated number can cause problems as that morning they actually had 5 staff answering all morning. So, I'd say make a cuppa, put the phone on speaker and do something else while you wait. Hopefully it won't be as long as the number in queue indicates.

I probably wasn't being patient enough. Was about to go out to pick up my daughter so had allowed just a half hour to get through.
Are you signed up for on-line services with the surgery and/or the NHS app? If so you should be able to find the results there. You will of course still have the problem of understanding them but at least you would have some idea of what the problem is.
If they took the time to email you, surely they could also have booked an appointment at the same time . No doubt you’ll worry a bit until you speak to them, and they should know that. I’m in Scotland too and think we should have online access to our results, as they seem to have elsewhere in UK, but that’s down to our government .
wow! I hope that you are able to sort this out soon. It can be scary waiting to find out the results from tests.
Best wishes to you!
I also an annual call for an mot checkup followed by call saying they wanted to redo blood tests. Turned out they’re now saying I have Diabetes 2. So keep trying to get through they might have found something that can be easily sorted.
I am aware that loads of other people have much more serious problems with delays in treatments such as cancer and my situation it minor really by comparison but it did seem a bit off that they contacted me and then could go no further.
