I had a HA in 2018 followed by single stent, diagnosis: Ischaemic heart disease, usual medication, rehab and all fine.
In 2021 I was diagnosed with Chronic Inflammatory demyalinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), rare and little known condition - not related to the heart - immune system impacting nervous system. Ongoing immunoglobulin treatment managing this well.
Now I have been diagnosed with localised T2 Prostate Cancer and the two courses of treatment are a Radical Prostatectomy or External Beam radiotherapy (with hormone treatment).
Research time….
I have great material from Prostatecancer UK and am in touch with neurology and urology
While it is a long shot that one of you wonderful people would have the above including CIDP there may be experience of the surgery or radiotherapy/hormone therapy with Angioplasty.
Many thanks
Ken

If it was my husband I would be hoping he would go down the removal of prostrate simply because a friend of ours was told had low grade and could just have a tumour removed and keep prostrate. It spread and has been fighting for the past 4 years and is now in second round of chemo. There may be other people who have good results with other treatments this is just my experience.
Hi,After a prostate biopsy and MRI scan, which showed more than one tumour, I had a robotic keyhole radical prostatectomy. Luckily the surgeon removed the nerves and the seminal vesicles. It was found at the post op autopsy that the cancer had spread to the aforesaid seminal vesicles, which didn't show up on the scan. Now, nearly seven years on, the negatives are erectile(lack of) and mild incontinence, which means wearing a light pad: But I am still alive!!!
Thank you for your response and this does highlight one of the issues that with the best screening they don’t really know what they may find and need to do until they get there. Good to hear that they have removed the cancer and while downsides you are able to lead a good life.
Was there any concern on the part of the surgical team of your heart history?
Yes I have had the same. Mine was breat cancer. Recieved 25 external beam radiation treatments to the chest and then a surgery, to remove the tumor. Followed by hormone therapy. This happened to me around 18 months after receiving 2 stents. The stents and heart disease diagnosis was not an issue for any doctor I saw. It is coming up to 4 years since and I have no issues. The good thing about radiation is it may kill run away cells that can't be seen so I think if offered it is worth the effort
I did opt for radical surgery but the surgeon said why are you not having radio . I was 69 and had a couple of stents 5 years ago . Any surgery as you get older has a greater risk of complications . I would say ask your consultant and take his advice after all he can tell you the risks . After my radio 22 months ago I now have PSA every 6 months and all is good .
Thank you for sharing your experience and good to know that the radiotherapy has worked well, I have met the surgeon and have an appointment with the oncologist tomorrow so very much in fact finding stage.
