I've just been for my 6 month checkup, all well with teeth and gums etc. The hygienist asked if I had a pacemaker as the implement he was going to use to remove plaque stops them from working. Think it was ultra sonic? No I don't have a pacemaker so he went ahead and did the clean. However I do have ParoxAfb and have been feeling a bit light headed since I got home. Anyone had any similar problems with this type of cleaning? Gladliz

Hi gladliz, did you have any needles in your gums for the pain/discomfort? I had a clean and the dentist said they knew I was nervous but there was too much adrenaline in the needles plus my fear of dentists and not having anything to eat made me nearly faint. The dentist turned the chair to lower my head to make the blood come back to my head twice and I was really shaky. I've just been back for a clean on my upper gum and she said there was no adrenaline in the needles and I was calmer and I had something to eat, no problems except I couldn't speak or drink because I dribbled for hours 🤣

I usually get more palpitations and have had aFib or arrhythmia during and after a dental appointment. I think it is the general stress and changes in head position that do it for me.

It can make you feel a bit nauseous or shaky afterwards even if you only have a clean and don't mind the Dentist.

Just keep an eye on your symptoms and have a few restful days.

You could always request that the hygienist doesn't use the same implement in future just to be sure .
