Dentists in times of Covid

On the 12th Feb this year my dentist finally decided that my capped wisdom tooth should be extracted but the x-ray showed the root is curved. He said that I should have it extracted at the Kings Hospital dental department as that was where I had my ICD/pacemaker inserted last November. He 'phoned me that night to say he had referred me. I didn't get an appointment before lockdown, in fact, no communication at all. Now the cap has come off and I am worried the tooth will get infected. The dentist surgery is large but does not take appointments, just advice over the phone, via a mobile number which is always engaged. Anybody else having dental problems?

My fiancé had a tooth problem last weekend - I’ve hopefully linked to the thread!... there is help out there it’s just not easy to find. Definitely try emailing or keep ringing your dentist 😀

I have a broken front tooth but unless I find myself in pain I cannot be referred to one of the specialist dental units operating during the pandemic. If I was referred I think it would be extracted so hopefully I can hold out for a crown!

Hubby's front crown fell out! He just tells people I hit him which, surprisingly, a great number of people believe! Good luck xx

I had root canal treatment last year (which led to my heart wobble, now all is sorted - tooth and heart ) and it left a wicked bad bruise on my face - my next door neighbour warned me it would be best to stay in until it faded or the other neighbours would think my husband had hit me. Shocked me but I knew she was right, some of our neighbours are 'funny', one called the police on another neighbour who missed out one Thursday night clapping!

Sorry to hear about your bruising. Your neighbours sound weird. Did make me smile reading your comments. Hope the police told them in no uncertain ways how stupid they were being. These difficult times brings out the best and worst in people. We all just want to support each other and keep safe and well on this site. Take care

I asked the dentist if there was anything I could do to prevent the tooth stump being damaged. He said there was nothing they could suggest until they can practice again. Seems that after 20 years at the practice I will find another one after lock down. Trip into Bromley and Boots to see if they have a dental repair kit.

My wife subject to her (non heart) issues has fillings & teeth falling out four up to now. Missing front tooth not pretty and it's weakening her bridge. Her Dental practice is on Emergency list but refuse to admit anyone unless it involves your head hanging off in severe agony.

Just grin & bare it. 🙄

Don't even mention haircut 100. I can get away with the James May look.

I am I went a couple of months ago not long before I had to shield I said I believed they should come out but I'm scared stiff of needles and dentists so have to have sedation as I'm emphysemic and my dentist won't touch me anyway well my dentist wouldn't even do a X ray said teeth OK no they are not I'm so angry I'm in pain with a dentist that wouldn't even do a X ray now shielding with a tooth ache it takes weeks and weeks to get a appointment to even see if I'm fit enough to go under sedation then wait for a anaesthetic what if I'm not able to understand go sedation what then ???? Good luck hope u can sort that tooth out mines more complicated 😢
