I have been taking aspirin with Prasugrel for 12 months since my HA and have now been told by my surgery to stop the Prasugrel and continue with Aspirin. I take ramipril and statins etc as normal but not prasugrel.I have read that it can be taken for up to 30months although this can increase the risk of bleeding anyone else had same.

Hi there. 12 months is the standard as recommended by the BNF.

It’s precautionary I suspect, after a heart attack where clotting has occurred in an artery.

I stopped prasugrel in June this year, after 12 months. I don’t bruise or bleed as much now!

Most people are on 12 months dual therapy after stenting and after 12 months are taken off the Prasugrel and left on aspirin only.
